Ann-Marie's inspiration comes from the light and colours of the Hebrides. She devotes most of her time living on the Isle of Mull surrounded by sea and the elements. Her painterly response is emotional, capturing the atmosphere and spirit of the place, which is felt rather than reproduced. An alchemy of colour, lively surface and light depict the essence of sea and shore.

Thick impasto, sand, crushed shells and other media impart a tactile quality and reflect light. She no longer uses brushes but applies paint directly and energetically with knives, rags and hands.

She is an active member of the Birmingham Art Circle (established in 1879) and exhibits frequently at the RBSA (Royal Birmingham Society of Arts) Open and Prize exhibitions.

She is a member of South West Mull Makers, a group of 10 artists and crafts people, who have an exhibition space and shop in Fionnophort, Mull.

Ann-Marie's work can be seen at the South West Mull Makers shop at Fionnphort, close to the Iona ferry and in the welcome room at the Isle of Mull Weavers, Ardalanish, Mull.
